As your long-term EEG study comes to an end, many patients wonder what happens next and how the results are processed.
This final phase is just as important as the setup and monitoring. It is where all of your recorded data is reviewed, interpreted, and turned into clear, meaningful results for your provider.
Ending Your EEG Study
At the end of your study, your EEG can be completed in one of two ways.
In many cases, the study can be ended remotely. Our team will guide you through the final steps, including removing your headwrap at home and then you will drop the equipment off at the office at a scheduled time.
The second option is returning for an in person visit where we will remove the equipment for you and end the study in person.
Removing the Headwrap
Once your study is complete, if you chose to remove the headwrap yourself, you will be given simple instructions, which may include:
Gently removing the headwrap and electrodes
Washing your hair to remove any remaining adhesive
It is normal to have some mild redness or slight pressure marks on the scalp after wearing the equipment for an extended period of time. These typically resolve quickly. In rare cases, minor skin irritation can occur, but this is uncommon.
What Happens to Your EEG Data
After your equipment is returned or your study is ended remotely, your EEG recording is downloaded and processed.

Our team carefully reviews and organizes your study by:
Uploading and securing your full EEG recording
Adding information from your written EEG log
Aligning your documented events with the recorded data
Reviewing daily reports created during your study
This step ensures that every symptom, event, and detail you documented is accurately reflected in your final report.
Clarifying Information Before Final Read
At the end of your study, when equipment is returned or dropped off, our team may go over any final details with you.
This may include:
Clarifying events you experienced
Confirming details from your EEG log
Answering any remaining questions
This step helps ensure accuracy before the physician completes the final interpretation.
Many of these clarifications are also addressed during your study in real time as events occur.
Final Review and Physician Interpretation
Once your study has been fully processed, it is sent to our interpreting physician.
The physician will:
Review your brain activity over the entire study period
Analyze any events that were recorded
Correlate findings with your symptoms and EEG log
A final report is then completed and sent directly to your referring provider in a clear and easy to read format.
When Will You Get Your Results
Final reports are typically completed within 1 to 2 business days after your study ends.
Your referring provider will receive the results and will go over them with you, discuss next steps, and answer any medical questions.
Why This Final Step Matters
This final phase brings everything together.
Your recorded brain activity, daily logs, documented events, and physician interpretation all work together to provide a complete picture of what is happening.
This is what allows your provider to make informed decisions about diagnosis and treatment.
